• The Steilacoom Historical School District is placing a bond proposition before voters on April 25, 2023 to issue $116,000,000 in general obligation bonds.  This proposition authorizes the district to construct a new elementary school, a high school stadium, performing arts center, career technical education space and high school and middle school classrooms; and make safety, security and accessibility improvements districtwide.  Excess property taxes would be levied annually to repay the bonds.  The anticipated property tax rate connected to general obligation bonds is expected to decrease from their current levels if approved by voters.   

    To ensure our citizens have the opportunity to provide their voice into the election process, the School Board sought applications from citizens interested in being appointed to a committee to write the for or against statements for the Pierce County Local Voters’ Pamphlet for the District’s Bond Proposition ballot measure. 
     
    A "For" Committee was appointed by the Board of Directors, but no one came forward as a volunteer for the "Against" Committee.  Pierce County can appoint interested individuals to a committee if no one volunteers at the district level.
