Welcome to Second Grade!
Hello! My name is Mary Marsden, and I am thrilled to be teaching 2nd Grade at Chloe Clark Elementary!
This is my fifth year of teaching and my fourth year teaching 2nd Grade. In 2018, I earned my Bachelor's in Special and Elementary Education from Gonzaga University (Go Zags!). While at Gonzaga, I was involved in volunteer literacy tutoring and campus music groups. After graduation, I moved to Rhode Island, where I pursued my Master's while teaching 2nd Grade for two years. In May 2020, I graduated with my Master's in Literacy from Providence College. After school, I moved back to Washington and taught 1st Grade at Chloe Clark before moving up to 2nd Grade! I have worked with students in a variety of age groups, and I particularly love the primary grades because of students' immense academic and social growth and the personal relationships we develop.
On a personal note, my husband and I live in University Place, and we enjoy living in the beautiful PNW near family and friends. I enjoy music, cooking and baking, hiking, reading mystery books, spending time with family and friends, and finding local ice cream shops. I also enjoy practicing hand-lettering and watercoloring whenever I get the chance.
I love 2nd Grade, and am passionate about getting to deeply know my students and their families. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together!
