    Biography
I've been an English Language Arts teacher at Pioneer Middle School since 2005 and have thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative spirit that is central to the success of our sixth-grade team. By working together, we have been able to create a strong language arts program that allows students to further develop their writing skills and expand their reading goals. Our commitment to technology gives families several ways to follow their child's progress and to keep familiar with the daily classroom activities and nightly independent reading at home.

Although Pioneer is now my home, I began teaching at the junior high school I attended as a child in my hometown of Longview, Washington. I taught primarily 8th grade at Monticello Middle School for the first 10 years of my teaching career. After moving to central Oregon for a few years and working as a web designer, I returned to Washington and to teaching. It was the best move of my life. I absolutely love my job and look forward to each new class of sixth graders.

    Education

Lewis and Clark College: Master's Degree in Teaching

Western Washington University: Bachelor of Arts in Education

Lower Columbia College: Associate in Arts Degree

    Hobbies

Sewing: Primarily pretty dresses for myself.

Board games and card games: I am the advisor for Pioneer's Game Club. We meet every Tuesday between 2:45 and 3:45. (Although this is all on hold until things get back to normal.)

Reading: I'm mostly into historical fiction right now, but I also enjoy scifi and fantasy.
