Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Jason Gilliam, and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I earned my Bachelor of Music, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Early Childhood Education endorsement from the University of Puget Sound. I started teaching in 1997 as a 1st Grade teacher. Since then, I have taught 1st grade for 9 years (one of those years it was a Kindergarten/1st grade split), 3rd grade for 4 years, 5 years of music, and 7 years of Kindergarten. This is my 26th year of teaching elementary school, and I have plans to teach many more!

In addition to teaching here at Chloe Clark, I also teach part time at Pacific Lutheran University as part of the music faculty, and I am very active as a low brass performer and international soloist. I feel honored and fortunate to have this career!

Besides teaching and music, I am an avid traveler, love to work on fitness, and I also am a coffee junkie (I drink way too much espresso)! I have a daughter who is starting her senior year at Curtis High School (already!). When people say they grow up too fast, they are not joking! Finally, I have two cats who are like my alarm clock, meowing before sunrise each day. I have been told by many that I look much younger than my age, except by students who guess I'm either 9 or up to 90 years old.

Contacting me: ParentSquare is absolutely the very best way to contact me. It is very much like sending me a text message. I get alerts, so can get back to you quicker than checking email or getting to a phone to return a call. I do turn off alerts by 5pm on school nights and on weekends as I need to focus on life outside of school in the evening to maintain balance. Thank you for understanding!

I truly look forward to working with you and your child this year. The growth in kindergarten is massive, and it's a privilege to be a large part of that growth.
