Chloe A. Clark (1818-1874)

  • chloestatue Chloe Aurelia Clark Willson, our school's namesake, was born in East Windsor, Connecticut on April 16, 1818.  She sailed to the Oregon Territory in 1839 around Cape Horn with 51 fellow Methodists missionaries.  Her first assignment was educating Indian children at the Nisqually Mission in what would later become DuPont, Washington; after that assignment she spent the next several years teaching at missions and other schools throughout the Puget Sound and the Willamette Valley areas.  She dedicated her life to the education of children in the Pacific Northwest, and we are proud to be associated with her name and her legacy!
