    Winter Concert Information


    When: Tuesday, December 14th
    Where: Pioneer Gym
    Time: Arrive 5:50 to 5:55 pm for warm-ups at 6pm
    Concert Start: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
    When Arriving: Singer will go to the commons. Parents please go in the gym and find pick your seats in the bleachers or  chairs behind the reserved section for the choirs.

    Protocols for Audience and Singers
    Masks: please wear your masks at all times in the building. Please make sure that your nose is covered. Singers must wear their singing masks for the whole concert.

    Seating:  Please sit in family pods with a 3ft - 6ft space between you and the next family pod. There is seating available in the bleachers and some chairs on the gym floor behind the choirs.

    Please no eating food in the gym.

    Singers uniforms
    *Close toed shoes
    *Black or blue jeans with no rips
    *Choir tee shirt

    Concert Etiquette.
    *Please keep small children with you.
    *If you must leave the gym please do it as quietly as possible.
    *Please turn off all electronics.
    *Please do not have a conversation during a performance. We are recording the concert so the singers can listen to it on Wednesday.
    *After the concert please help stack the folding chairs or help take down the risers.
    *Finally, please listen to every child. They all have worked very hard to prepare for the concert.

    My name is Katie Elshire and I am am starting my 28th year in education and my 8th year of teaching Choir and General Music/Appreciation at Pionner Middle School. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Choral Education from Pacific Lutheran University and a Masters in Instructional Technology from City University. 

    I hold holds professional memberships in the American Choral Directors Association and the National Association for Music Education. 

    For the past 17 years, I have served on the Board of the Mountain Region Music Education Association where I'm serving as the acting Treasurer. For the past 12 years I have sang Alto 2 in the Symphony Tacoma Voices.

    In 2018, I was humbled and honored to receive the “Middle Level Educator of the Year” award by the Washington Music Educators Association.

    In my free time, I enjoy spending time chillin', floating on a lake in warmer weather, playing Pokemon Go with my husband, spending time with my daughter and playing with our corgi puppy.
