I am so excited to be teaching here at Steilacoom High School and this year I will once again be teaching Survey of Science and Marine Science.  My family and I have lived within the school district since 2002; I know what a wonderful district and community I am a part of.  I have three children, all of which have graduated from SHS.  I retired from the Army in 2011 after having served 21 years, to include deployments.  Following retirement I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a minor in Marine Biology.  I then went on to complete my Master of Education, also at the UWT, where I received my Washington state teaching certification in secondary science education.  I am an avid SCUBA diver and volunteer at the Marine and Science Technology (MaST) center Highline College at Redondo Beach conducting live video and communication dives.  While attending UWT I also had the privilege of diving in support of research studies on the subtidal ecology of the San Juan Archipelago.  I truly enjoy science and I hope to instill this passion in your students.  I look forward to working closely with the families and students of SHS and making this an exciting and fun year of learning.
