The mission of Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1, in partnership with our communities, is to educate and prepare responsible citizens who can contribute and adapt in a changing world.  The goal of our district is to prepare every student for postsecondary pathways, careers, and civic engagement.  In order for students to be ready for learning, their basic physical, social and emotional needs must be met.  Ongoing assessments and evaluation of progress and achievements provides a way to determine and measure goals.  Steilacoom Historical School District strives to provide timely and meaningful student achievement information to student, family, staff and the community.

State and federal laws require students to be tested in:

English Language Arts and Math in Grades 3rd  through 8th and high school

    Science in Grades 5th ,8th  and 11th

    District Assessments

We regularly assess students and their progress as they move through school.

Teachers use formative and summative assessments to measure academic progress and provide support as needed for students.  Parents and guardians can monitor classroom assessments through the use of Online Grades.  Click here to login.  If you need support logging in, please contact your student's school.

Benchmark assessments are administered throughout the school year and consist of large clusters of standards.  The purpose of benchmark assessments are to inform teachers which standards students have mastered at that point in time.
