Students in grades 1-5 will not attend school on these days except for a Success Conference scheduled with their teacher on either Thursday, August 28 or Friday, August 29.

Pioneer Pirate Day - Thursday, August 21st
6th Graders – 9:00am – 2:30pm
7th Graders – 9:00 – 11:30am
8th Graders – 12:30 – 2:30pm
Please Note: The school and Pirate Day activities will be CLOSED from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm for lunch.

What you can expect to do at Pirate Day:

• Pay ASB fees (required to participate in athletics or clubs)
• Purchase spirit gear
• Take a tour of the school
• Receive Food service information from Sodexo
• Receive bus route information from Durham Transportation
• Receive athletic schedule and registration information
• Join the PTA
• Sign up for Watch D.O.G.S.
• Visit the school nurse top drop off medication or vaccination info

What you can’t do at Pirate Day:

• Meet/talk with teachers or counselors
• Pick up a copy of your student’s schedule
• Put money on your student’s lunch account. This is done online through InTouch
• Buy a PE uniform – we no longer sell PE uniforms. See information below:

PE attire must consist of the following:

• Black or grey are the only acceptable colors with logos no larger than the size of a credit card
• Shorts: Loose-fitting with a minimum 7-inch inseam and/or sweats
• T-shirt – loose-fitting, no crop tops or spaghetti straps (logos no larger than a credit card)
• Socks and athletic shoes

Pioneer Pirate Day - Tuesday, August 26th
6th grade 4:00 – 5:00pm
7th & 8th grade 5:00 – 6:00pm

• Parents/Guardians will follow students' schedules, starting with 1st period at 4:00 pm. We will announce the next period with bells and overhead prompts.
• For your convenience, please bring your student’s schedule (available in Skyward Family Access) on your device or printed. Please save your child’s schedule on your device prior to the event as there is no guest Wi-Fi and cellular service is limited.
• Copies of student schedules will also be available in the cafeteria if needed.
• Maps of the school will be available.
• JS2S students will provide tours of the school.
• PTA will be available to answer questions and help you sign up to join the team.
• Military families can connect with our MFLC Counselor (Military Family Life Counselor).
• You will have the opportunity to join our Watch D.O.G.S. program.
• Donations of school supplies are welcome, and bins will be available for donations at the building entrance near the cafeteria.
• Medication drop-off will be available (with completed forms).
• You will be able to view a video from our Administrators in advance of the Open House. The link will be shared via ParentSquare.

Please note: We will not have items for sale, and schedule change requests will not be accepted during the Open House.
