2025 Levy Information
Thank you, SHSD Voters, for approving both Proposition 1 and 2 on the November 4, 2025, ballot!
Steilacoom Historical School District relies on local, voter-approved funding measures to fill the gap between the funding the district receives from the state and what it actually costs to provide the best education for every student.
On November 4, 2025, voters were asked to renew Steilacoom Historical School District's Education Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy (Proposition 1) and Capital Projects Fund (CP) Levy (Proposition 2) that were approved by voters in 2021 and 2023 and expire in 2026 and 2025. Both levy renewals are not new taxes, and replace previously approved levies that are due to expire.
Generally, a district would not submit a replacement levy in the year before the current levy expires. However, the district sought to secure tax rates, save voters money in election costs, and reduce voter fatigue by running the EP & O levy with the capital levy in November 2025.
Please see the detailed information below explaining what each levy will provide for our students, and our FAQ page for answers to your levy questions.

PROPOSITION 1
Replacement
Educational Programs & Operations Levy
The proposed 2025 EP&O Levy replaces the EP&O Levy approved by voters in 2021 and expiring in 2026.
The 4-year replacement EP&O levy is estimated to collect a total of $43 million from 2027-2030 to provide support for educational programs and daily operations, including teaching, instructional support, school counselors, school nurses, school supplies, athletics and extracurricular activities, and transportation.
This 4-year EP&O replacement levy is not a new tax and would provide 18% of SHSD's total operating budget.

PROPOSITION 2
Replacement
Capital Projects Levy
The proposed 2025 Capital Projects Levy replaces the Capital Projects Levy approved by voters in 2023 that expired in 2025.
This 4-year Capital Projects replacement levy provides approximately $7 million per year for 4 years to address district-wide school facilities improvements, including security and safety enhancements, technology system upgrades, building maintenance projects, updates to infrastructure, and athletic facilities renovations.
Projects proposed in the Capital Projects levy are based on recommendations from the Facilities Advisory Committee. Committee members included community, staff, and parents who studied facility conditions, consulted with facilities experts, and identified proposed solutions.
This Capital Projects replacement levy is not a new tax and would provide 100% of the funding for the district's Capital Projects Fund.
