Administrative Internship Program - Supporting Future School and District Leaders
BECOME A LEADER
Schools need good leaders and our district is committed to providing internship opportunities for qualified employees working toward a Washington state administrative credential.
Qualifications
To apply, certified staff must be enrolled in a college or university program and have demonstrated excellence in their current assignments. Internships will be approved on an individual basis and consider specific factors including but not limited to - academic record, teaching ability, leadership qualities, communication skills and dedication to past and present assignments.
Application
Interested staff must submit their application online (Internal Applicants) by January 31, 2025. Acceptance is contingent on the administrative intern securing a SHSD building principal's approval to supervise their internship in that principal's building and successful completion of the selection process.
Selection Process
The selection process will involve a review of application documents, recommendations and references, and team interviews. After January 31, 2025 an internship committee (consisting of district administrators and other administrators relevant to the internship being requested) will review the application materials. As part of its selection process, the committee will conduct, screening, interviews, and reference checking.
Internship approval will be communicated to the candidate, with copies to appropriate administrative staff by February 28, 2025. All materials used in the internship selection process will be considered confidential and are not a part of the employee's personnel file. Candidates not selected for internship may request a meeting with the executive director of Human Resources to discuss the candidate's application.
